Indie Panel – Introductions

I’m really excited about what’s going on for the next couple weeks.  REALLY excited.

I have blackmailed 9 successful indie/hybrid authors into answering a bunch of questions I’d received through twitter, comments, and emails about self-publishing. Instead of seeing one author go through all the answers, we’re going to cover 1-2 questions a day so you can see a bunch of varied responses at once. No one does everything the same, right?

I know from experience that ALL of the people below are great writers, but they are also incredibly insightful business people.

And so now to introduce you to all these people that I not only respect, but like as well, here we go….

Alex Albrinck

Hi, I’m Alex Albrinck. By day, I work in the Information Technology field. By night, I write books mixing elements of science fiction and fantasy. I’ve released five novels, plus an omnibus, and expect to launch a second series in 2014. All of my works are self-published. You can learn more on my website,http://www.alexalbrinck.com/.

Amanda Brice

Hi I’m Amanda Brice, and I write YA mystery and time travel and adult romantic comedy. I have three novels and a few short stories out at the moment, with another three novels expected this year. I’m a two-time Golden Heart finalist who is almost exclusively self-published (I have one short story with Montlake/StoryFront). My day job is as an intellectual property attorney. http://www.amandabrice.net

Bria Quinlan

Hi, I’m Bria Quinlan and I write YAs with deep themes in a light voice. I also write adult romantic comedies under the name Caitie Quinn. And, the only reason I get to be on this panel is because it’s my blog and I said so. 😉  I’m currently working on 2 more rom coms and 2 more YAs. It’s a busy, busy world. Also, pretend she’s just as exciting and interesting as the rest of the panel because it’s really nice to humor your hostess.

Cassie Mae

Cassie Mae is a nerd to the core from Utah, who likes to write about other nerds who find love. (BRIA: You can totally see why Cassie caught my attention from that line, right???) She’s the author of the Amazon Bestseller REASONS I FELL FOR THE FUNNY FAT FRIEND, and is the debut author for the Random House FLIRT line with her New Adult novels FRIDAY NIGHT ALIBI and SWITCHED. She also has a three book deal with Swoon Romance Publishing, including her book HOW TO DATE A NERD. She spends time with her angel children and perfect husband who fan her and feed her grapes while she clacks away on the keyboard. Then she wakes up from that dream world and manages to get a few words on the computer while the house explodes around her. When she’s not writing, she’s spending time with the youth in her community as a volleyball and basketball coach, or searching the house desperately for chocolate. Check her out at http://cassiemaeauthor.weebly.com/

Elisabeth Naughton

Before topping multiple bestseller lists—including those of the New York Times, USA Today, and the Wall Street Journal—Elisabeth Naughton taught middle school science. The author of more than twenty novels, she writes both romantic suspense and paranormal romance, and her books have been nominated for some of the industry’s most prestigious awards, such as the RITA® and Golden Heart Awards from Romance Writers of America, and the Australian Romance Reader Awards. Originally traditionally published, Elisabeth now considers herself a hybrid author. Her next book, HOLD ON TO ME, releases on February 18, 2014. Learn more at www.ElisabethNaughton.com

 Rachel Grant

BRIA AGAIN: I’m totally taking over Rachel’s bio because her version didn’t tell you how awesome she is. Not only is she an archaeologist (and who didn’t want to be an archaeologist as some point???), she’s finalled in the Golden Heart a bajillion times. She writes kick-butt romantic suspense that manage to be incredibly smart and still be hawt. The heroines are clever, the heroes are awesome and the drama is high (w/o adding useless angst). Her EVIDENCE series is a constant recommendation from me. You can check her out at  www.Rachel-Grant.net

RACHEL:  Her Evidence series explores the intersection of archaeology, politics, and war. (BRIA: I thought I’d let her say something.)

Also, fun fact, I think she has 27 email addresses.

Rachel Shurig

Hi, I’m Rachel Schurig. I have eleven self-published books currently available. I’m a full-time writer of chick lit and romantic comedy, which are also my favorite books to read. When I’m not writing, reading, or messing around online, I like to watch reality TV, hang out with my dog, and decorate cakes. You can find me online at rachelschurig.comfacebook.com/RachelSchurigAuthor, and twitter.com

(BRIA: Also, she’s a USA Today Best Seller!)

Robert J Crane

My name is Robert J. Crane, I am full-time indie author who writes in the Fantasy genre. I have fifteen novels out, all self-published, and thankfully my books are not as boring as my bio.

Find out more about Robert and his series on his Author Page.

Sarra Cannon

I write contemporary and paranormal fiction with both teen and college age characters. My books often stem from my own experiences growing up in the small town of Hawkinsville, Georgia, where I learned that being popular always comes at a price and relationships are rarely as simple as they seem.

My bestselling Young Adult paranormal series, Peachville High Demons, has sold over 150,000 copies, and a spin-off series will begin later this year. I am also a devoted (obsessed) fan of Hello Kitty (BRIA: I’ve seen the pictures and it’s awesomely adorable) and have an extensive collection that decorates my desk as I write. I live in South Carolina with my amazingly supportive husband and my adorable son. Find her at http://sarracannon.com/

SM Reine

My name is Sara, and I write urban fantasy novels as SM Reine. I have something like twenty books out now and am exclusively self-published. You can find me on my website: http://authorsmreine.com/

(BRIA: Another author too humble. She’s also a USA Today Best Seller!)
