  1. Once, in tenth grade, there was a boy I like from afar. He was sweet and good-looking and played guitar. I’d heard a rumor he was going to ask me to Homecoming even though we’d only spoken a few times in class. So I did the thing where you make sure you’re in his hall and by his table at lunch. So after a week, and turning down others for the dance, I’d had enough. I was scared I wouldn’t have a date and that the rumor wasn’t true. So after school on Friday, I found him in the Commons before going for my ride. He said Hi and I returned the greeting. We awkwarded back and forth for a minute before I blurted out, “Are you going to ask me to the dance or not?” He smiled and said, “I want to but I’m shy.” I said,” How can I break the ice?” He shrugged so I kissed him. We went to the dance.

  2. There was a boy who rode my school bus whom I absolutely despised. He kept to himself and sometimes made snide remarks at the rest of us. I went out of my way to sling words back at him, too. This went on for months, and we sort of became each other’s nemesis. One night, my best friend and I went to visit her boyfriend who just happened to be staying at the boy’s house. Of course, my friend started making out with her guy, leaving me and my nemesis with nothing to do. He looked at me and said, “You wanna?” I grumbled, “Sure. Why not?” Best. Kiss. Ever. I think we were both pleasantly surprised.

  3. a few years ago, (not to many decades) I danced the night away with a complete gorgeous guy in our local club, we spent all evening chatting, laughing, and really having fun, but we never exchanged names, at the end of the evening I didn’t want to lose the dream so I snuck out without saying goodbye started on my merry way home, I popped into the all night garage for a drink when he pulled in to get petrol I had to have just one last thing so I ran up to the car pulled his head through the window and kissed him like my life depended on it, then I ran away, most amazing kiss ever and one I still haven’t forgotten about 20 years later

      These are all awesome!!!

You guys are all far braver than I am.

I keep checking back for more bc I loved these so much.

  4. My then friend was over at my house watching a movie with me. I was crushing, but I wasn’t sure if he was into me like that or not. He got up and went to the bathroom, and I awkwardly waited outside the door for him in the hallway–like all up in the door–so when he opened it I was right in his face. He kind of wrapped his arms around me as he came out and pushed me backwards until I was up against the wall. Then we kissed. Tentatively at first, then definitely, we were sure! It was a kiss that lasted so long that my face was sore the next day, and it was the first time I kissed the man that became my husband. I still get butterflies when I think of kissing him that day.

  5. My girlfriends took me out for a night on the town after a breakup to “lift my spirits.” Of course, what really lifted my spirits was the raspberry Stoli (mind you I rarely drank so this probably wasn’t the best choice for the night). So we were at a bar, and somehow I was dancing, when all of a sudden I spotted him on the other side of the room. If I remember correctly this is EXACTLY how it went next: it got really quiet, a spot light shined down on each of us, the crowd on the dance floor parted, I gracefully danced across the floor to him, took his hand, and we danced the night away. Ok, maybe that was the Stoli too. Anyway, at the end of the night he walked me and my friends to a cab. Just before I got in I felt a bit bold and planted a kiss on him. It took a tap on the shoulder from the cab driver (no joke) to pull us apart. (Apparently he wasn’t allowed to start the meter until we began to drive).

We didn’t exchange numbers so I figured I’d never see him again. Then two weeks later there’s a knock at my apartment door. I nearly died when he was standing outside. Apparently I talked a lot the night we met and told him where I went to school, what apartment complex I lived in, and who knows what else. Somehow he put it all together and found me. He took me to a Bare Naked Ladies concert that day (my fave at the time) and we ended up dating for over two years.

  6. Thank you so much! I told my husband last night that I was using our first kiss to win stuff… I’m so glad it paid off, lol!

      1. He didn’t say: But you won me with our first kiss? — see, lines like this are what revisions are for.

      2. I love your kiss. I want to steal it for a book LOL I loved it that much… actually. i want to steal all of these!
