I think BLF (Book Launch Fear) is something we don’t talk about out of the shadows. We talk about how excited we are to share a book and how happy we are with the finished product and how much we love our characters. But sometimes… sometimes… sometimes there’s a little fear in there too. My next book, Secret Life (RVHS Secrets #2) is the second in my series of standalones around teens at Ridge View High – there’s soccer gods {Read More}
SECRET LIFE – Cover Reveal & Excerpt
Rachel Wells is a liar—big time. No one outside her family knows about the panic attacks or meds, the weekly therapy drive-bys or the “safe” outfit. If she could hide it all from her string of ex-boyfriends and her best friend Amy, then why should anything change? But, when the one guy as messed up as she is blackmails her into helping him, life goes from closely restrained to out of control. Sometimes choosing between sanity and {Read More}
SECRET GIRLFRIEND – Cover Reveal & Excerpt
Since her mom died, Amy Whalen’s been invisible—but not in the cool, superpower kind of way. Overlooked at school and ignored at home, Amy holds tight to her few constants: running, painting, and her long-held crush on soccer god, Chris Kent. But as senior year nears, Chris doesn’t just notice her, he needs her. Amy will agree to almost anything to be with him. Everything is great—sort of—until Luke Parker shows up for soccer tryouts and sees through every one {Read More}
SECRET GIRLFRIEND Cover Tease
I’m sure you can tell just by the little teaser that this cover is VERY different from the Wreckless cover. Very different and adorable in its own way. If you’re interested in being part of the cover reveal on Thursday, comment below and I’ll get you more information.
Present Tense Poll
It’s come up with three different writers this week — the path of writing in present tense. And every time it comes up, someone says, “Well, Hunger Games is in present tense.” (personal pet peeve: using an extreme example to prove your point. Dude, that’s an extreme example.) As a reader, I feel pretty strongly about this. It sounds like most readers do, so, let’s find out! Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments too! kk, Bria
Reader Interview: Book Love Sharing
A few weeks ago I had dinner with a friend who we will call “Friend.” She was really excited I was putting my books out and she asked what someone could do to support a writer with a book they believed in. That last bit was important once we started chatting. Friend wrote her ideas on a napkin and told me to blog it. You should know that she’s a reader. She has nothing to do with writing or blogging {Read More}
WRITING: The Habit
Writing used to be a habit for me. So much so that if I wasn’t writing I got antsy. I’d scribble things down in meetings or while driving. Anywhere to get that fix. That type of need… I mean, focus happens with a lot of things (like the gym, running, etc) but, it’s easy to lose. But, I’ve lost it. Part of the reason is I had a lot of life changes this year and thought I could slide a bit {Read More}
Pub Paths: So, Now What?
There’s this misconception that once you pick a path to publication, you’re stuck. You can’t go back. You can’t mix it up. This project is dead forever! The drama! The drama! Let’s back it up again. Nothing in life is pub pathing is final. You can mix it up all you want. For me, what this means is that I’m working my butt off to make the path I’m currently on successful. That means: Keep writing (ok, this is true {Read More}
Cover Reveal: RUNNING ON EMPTY by Colette Ballard
I got to meet the very awesome Colette Ballard at RWA this year and we bonded immediately over our love of Hot Country Boys (some body lock up Kip Moore!) So, when she said her awesome new cover was getting revealed this week, I said OOOHHH I WANT TO SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD! (or all of you – which basically means *my* world. So, CHECK. IT. OUT! What does it feel like when you die—in those final moments? {Read More}
